Aide-Memoire Book
Practicing therapeutic photography techniques, joining groups for social action photography, and using other methods of mindful photography, can help veterans diagnosed with mental health disabilities. The body of work created in Aide-Memoire revolves around mindful photography and personal self-awareness. It represents Vince’s childhood memories through visually documenting The Region in Northwest Indiana where he grew up.
Even though his work is a form of therapy for himself, he wants it to also inspire other veterans, active-duty military, and everyone alike so they can find it within themselves to use art and find their own process of managing their struggles. Through Vince’s lens, depression is not an enemy to defeat but a companion that has taught him to see differently.
Aide-Memoire is an invitation to turn the tables on something that is negative and make it a positive through perspective and creation.
